BERKELEY, Calif. - Elizabeth Pickney scored 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead Arizona past California, 76-68, at Haas Pavilion Saturday night.
Pickney notched her fifth double-double of the season. LaKeisha Taylor scored a game-high 19 points and Aimee Gryzb added 15 points.
Candice Allen scored 10 points and also reached the double-figure mark for Arizona (10-10, 6-5).
Amber White and Kiki Williams each had 14 points for Cal (6-13, 1-9), a total that was a career high for White. Ami Forney recorded a double-double, her fourth of the season, with 10 points and 11 rebounds before fouling out.
The win was Arizona's fifth in its last seven games, and ended a successful four-game Pac-10 road trip that was marred only by a loss to No. 3 Stanford.
The bad news was that starting point guard Dee-Dee Wheeler hurt her right knee with 4:31 remaining in the first half and did not return to the game.
The first half was a seesaw battle until the final five minutes, when Arizona pulled away. The Wildcats broke a 22-22 tie with a 10-0, 4:53 run that was triggered by a series of Golden Bear turnovers - many of them unforced.
Arizona took advantage of the size of 6-foot-4 seniors Pickney and Taylor, a combination for which the Bears found no answer all night.
