Utah's top back out 4 to 6 weeks

Utah head coach Ron McBride doesn't seem to want to believe the injury to his senior running back Marty Johnson is for real.

However, if the report out of Salt Lake City is true, the Utah coach will be without the nation's top rusher when his team travels to Tucson on Saturday to play UA.

The Salt Lake City Tribune reported yesterday that the nation's leading rusher suffered the worst kind of sprain possible to the medial collateral ligament in his right knee and will miss 4-6 weeks. [Read article]

A year later: Some change, a lot the same

A year ago tonight I was watching Monday Night Football.

My Broncos beat the Giants in Denver but their playoff hopes where shattered when wide receiver Ed McCaffrey broke his leg in the first half. That was an important play öö until it was put into perspective.

The next day, the thoughts of playoffs, wins and Super Bowls were far from mind.

It was all about loss.

Watching the final minutes of people's lives unfold before my eyes as the replay of the planes crashing into the Twin Towers was shown over and over again. [Read article]

photo Wildcats battle injuries, expectations to start year

Ever since its preseason ranking of No. 6, the UA women's volleyball team has been going downhill.

UA (3-3) was upset two weeks ago against Louisville and was defeated in convincing fashion over the weekend by both No. 4 Nebraska and No. 10 Pepperdine.

Now the Wildcats find themselves ranked 15th in the nation and questioning what has gone wrong.

UA is coming off its first NCAA Final Four appearance in 2001, which has put a bull's eye on the team's back every time they step on the floor. [Read article]
