photo Men's Basketball Notes: Olson praises team's athleticism

During yesterday's media day for the men's basketball team, the reoccurring question of the afternoon posed to head coach Lute Olson had to do with the team's abundance of athletic talent.

"This is the most athletic team I have ever had," Olson said. "We have had other teams that are very athletic but not as deep."

With four incoming freshmen ÷ Andre Iguodala, Hassan Adams, Chris Dunn and Chris Rodgers ÷ all having the ability to fly up and down the basketball court, Olson said that he is going to make a change to his defense this year. [Read article]

There isn't anything really hot and exciting about a band walking around making weird shapes and stuff on the field. But watching a 2-foot tall football player take an end around for 30 yards and a score is enough to keep any football fan in the stands. [Read article]

Recruit number 3, and counting

Four days after attending "Midnight Madness," high school senior Kirk Walters made up his mind that Arizona was the place for him.

The 6-foot-10 center from South Christian High School near Grand Rapids, Mich. chose Arizona over Central Michigan and Western Michigan ÷ even after saying on Friday that he wouldn't make his mind up until November. But circumstances changed.

Central Michigan wished to offer the scholarship to another player by this Friday, prompting the hasty decision, said Kirk Walters' father, Ward Walters. [Read article]
