Senior roommates ready to take reins of young Wildcat women's basketball team

Clad in school colors, seniors Julie Brase and Krista Warren sat together at media day as expected.

Between interviews, they laughed and joked with each other and gave some of the freshmen a hard time.

UA Football Notes; Cats focusing on earning bowl bid

After dropping their first three conference games for the second straight year, the Wildcats have focused their attention away from the Pacific 10 Conference Championship and refocused on getting to a bowl game.

"We are in the spoiler role," head coach John Mackovic said. "We have to accept that. I don't think a champion will lose three games."

Mackovic said the team's number one goal is to play well in every game and have some fun beating people and its number two goal is to not give up the idea of working its way toward the top half of the conference and working toward a bowl game. [Read article]

photo Torregrosa takes on new role

Shannon Torregrosa's four years as a member of the Wildcat volleyball team have resembled something of a roller coaster ride.

She was a key member of last year's run to the Final Four and was named the AVCA National and Pacific 10 Conference Player of the Week last year after two dominating matches against UCLA and Southern California. However, she was also suspended for conduct detrimental to the team. [Read article]
