Redshirt freshman, blue-chip recruits make debut tonight

While the Red-Blue Game may seem like little more than a glorified scrimmage, for one Wildcat, tonight's tip-off will mean a whole lot more.

Redshirt freshman Katrina Lindner tore her ACL in last year's Red-Blue Game, effectively ending her promising first season as a Wildcat.

Head coach Joan Bonvicini said losing Lindner for the season was a tremendous blow last year. [Read article]

photo Football Notes: Wildcats receive unusual day off

The Wildcats had hoped for the return of junior cornerback Michael Jolivette for this weekend's game against UCLA but, according to head coach John Mackovic, his return against the Bruins is unlikely.

"I was kind of hopeful that he would (return), but I just don't think he will make it," Mackovic said.

Jolivette hurt his knee three days before the Sept. 21 Wisconsin game and has not seen the field since. [Read article]

Men's soccer makes nationals

The Arizona men's soccer team kept its season rolling and its national title hopes alive with a strong weekend tournament in Las Vegas.

Although Arizona fell short in Sunday's championship game against San Diego State by a score of 3-1, the Wildcats still earned an invitation to the national tournament, which was the team's goal heading into the tournament.

"It's disappointing we didn't win the tournament, but at the same time it feels great that we got one of 16 bids to the nationals, out of a possible 150 teams," junior Mychal Sierra said. "It was a tough weekend. Everyone contributed and our bench came up big for us." [Read article]
