Music, family top junior's love list, but E-flat holds the key to her heart
WILDCAT: So what is this band you've got here?
WINCHESTER: This is from a local church in town. We're a group called the Gatekeepers, and we have several ministries here in Tucson. We perform all over. The Mall just happens to be one place we perform twice a month.
WILDCAT: What instrument do you play?
WINCHESTER: I play piano, mainly. I also play the violin; but I won't be playing it today.
WILDCAT: If you were a key on the piano, which would you be?
WINCHESTER: What key would I be?
WILDCAT: Yep.
WINCHESTER: Umm · E flat.
WILDCAT: Why is that?
WINCHESTER: Because I love playing in the key of E flat.
WILDCAT: Is that representative of you in any way?
WINCHESTER: I don't think so; I've never really thought about that.
WILDCAT: How long has your band been together?
WINCHESTER: Oh, gosh. Well, we've been singing together since I was 8 years old.
WILDCAT: That's a lot of singing.
WINCHESTER: Of course, everybody in the group hasn't been singing together that long, because there are some younger ones. But most of the group constitutes of my family ÷ because I have seven brothers and sisters, and my mom plays also, as well as my sister's husband. We also have three friends that play with us.
WILDCAT: Wow! What's it like playing in the heat with all those people?
WINCHESTER: It isn't the greatest.
WILDCAT: Does anything up on stage melt?
WINCHESTER: Umm · no.
