Events

The International Arts Society Film Program presents "Sullivan's Travels" on Friday night at 7:30. This American film, directed by Preston Sturges and starring Joel McCrea, is a funny road movie about a director who sets out to discover the hardships of life in the Great Depression and ends up discovering something he does not expect. The movie will be shown in the auditorium of the Modern Languages building. Admission is free.

Reggae star Tippa Irie performs Friday from 7 p.m. until midnight at the Twelve Tribes Reggae Shop, 345 N. Fifth Ave. It costs $12 in advance and $15 the day of to hear the United Kingdom's top MC live. For more information, call Ranger at 620-1810.

The Sirocco Wind Quintet can be heard on Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This local group will be performing its classical music at Bookman's, 6230 E. Speedway Blvd. This event is free and open to the public. For more information call Colin Waite at 748-9555.

Check out the Rova Saxophone Quartet on their 25th Anniversary Tour on Saturday night at 8. This San Francisco-based group will be performing at the Mat Bevel Institute, 530 N. Stone Ave. This event will cost between $12 and $14. For more details, call 882-7154.

Laurie Lewis and Tom Rozum perform their own style of acoustic music Saturday night at 8. Tickets are $15 in advance and $17 at the door. This concert features music from their album "Winter's Grace," and will be held at Crowder Hall. For more information and tickets, call 327-4809.

Ricardo Cobo performs Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at St. Phillips in the Hills Episcopal Church, 4440 N. Campbell Ave. This concert, presented by the Tucson Guitar Society, costs $15 for general admission and $5 for children 12 and under. Catch the Tune Catchers on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. This women's acapella group performs holiday classics for free at the Lighthouse YMCA, 2900 N. Columbus Blvd. For more details, call 325-0655.
