Horns drop 'Cats in pitching duel
Sooner or later, it was bound to happen.
Whenever you have two great pitchers on the mound öö like UA freshman Alicia Hollowell and University of Texas sophomore Cat Osterman öö the team that makes the least mistakes wins.
So it was only natural that when No. 2 Arizona committed its first error in six games last night at the Fiesta Bowl Tournament in Phoenix, it was about to experience its first loss of the season, a 2-1 heartbreaker to No. 12 Texas.

Surging Wildcats rip winless Cougars to keep Pac-10 pace
It's hard to imagine how a victory over a winless team late in the season could be considered a "big win."
However, Arizona's 80-50 win over Washington State (0-21) on Saturday was huge.
With Arizona's victory, along with Washington's loss to Arizona State on Saturday, the Wildcats moved into a tie for second place in the Pacific-10 Conference standings with the Huskies.
"We don't like for ASU to win, but this time it was good for us," said freshman center Shawntinice Polk.

Baseball alumni return to reminisce
A revamped baseball alumni weekend allowed the program to remember and honor ex-UA players during a three-game series against Baylor.
The weekend served as a homecoming for former Wildcat teammates and an opportunity for them to mentor the current baseball roster.
"I've been coming back here for 15 years and every year it's worth just keeping the foundation of the alumni coming back to reminisce and tell stories," said alumnus Gil Heredia, a starting pitcher of the 1986 national championship team. "The key is to give an incentive to the current player to have a dream of playing in the big leagues."

Sandwiched between games with No. 21 UCLA and No. 2 Colorado State, the men's lacrosse team's match-up with Loyola Marymount had all the makings of a letdown, but the Laxcats rallied in the second half to win 8-6, led by limping All-American senior Bryan Moore.
The No. 6 Laxcats (2-0, 2-0) opened the weekend with a blowout of No. 21 UCLA, 15-5, but found themselves down 2-0 to unranked Loyola Marymount after the first quarter and 4-1 after the second.

Icecats' rough road trip can't stop win streak
When the No. 6 Arizona Icecats thought about what could possibly go wrong this weekend on their road trip to Colorado, they never imagined this.
From forgotten equipment and broken skates to food poisoning and a malfunctioning Zamboni machine, it would have been completely understandable if the team had succumbed to host Colorado State and left without a win.
But according to UA head coach Leo Golembiewski, that wouldn't happen to this team, at least not this late in the season.
