On the prowl: Thunderous Cats

Sophomores Kim Glass and Jennifer Abernathy make noise on the outside for No. 15 UA volleyball team

As teammates on the No. 14 Arizona volleyball team and best friends off the court, sophomore outside hitters Kim Glass and Jennifer Abernathy go together like thunder and lightning.

Now they have the sweatbands to show it.

The pair are sporting black armbands during matches this season with logos from the Î80s cartoon "Thundercats" on them, as they anchor an important position for the Arizona volleyball team. [Read article]

photo Icecats set to embark on 25th season of play

The Arizona Icecats have spent the majority of the past 24 years with one thing on their mind.

Winning.

But while victory will never be too far off the top of the players' minds, the thought of celebration will be right there as well, as the team commemorates its 25th season as one of the premier college hockey programs in the country.

Think the Arizona football team was thoroughly embarrassed on Saturday against Louisiana State in front of 40,000-plus Wildcat fans?

Think a 46-point defeat is reason to think this team is as bad as the so-called experts have said they would be?

Ha! Think again.

The 59-13 score doesn't look very impressive for our 'Cats ÷ but only if you don't look at the box score.

Candrea selects four former Cats to U.S. softball squad

USA Softball head coach Mike Candrea, who has taken a partial leave of absence from his head coaching duties at Arizona, announced his list of 18 players who spend the next year preparing to defend the team's gold medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.

Four players chosen for the squad have ties to the Wildcat program. [Read article]
