Arizona turned upside down as Oregon drops UA by five touchdowns

At first glance, it might have seemed like TBS was showing a replay of last week's game.

While the chain of events was similar, the Wildcats' opponent wasn't Southeastern Conference power Louisiana State, but rather Pacific 10 Conference ÷ and unranked ÷ foe Oregon.

For the second straight week, Arizona (1-2, 0-1 Pac-10) was blown out in front of a national television audience at Arizona Stadium when it lost its 12th consecutive Pac-10 home game, by a score of 48-10 to the Ducks Saturday night in front of 40,000 dismayed Wildcat fans. [Read article]

Commentary: It's time for answers, not optimism

As the Oregon Ducks ran out the clock Saturday night, ending their 48-10 victory over the Arizona Wildcats, time also ran out on the unwavering optimism that had surrounded this football team.

Following an impressive season opener that saw the offense click on all cylinders and the defense not allow a touchdown, fans began to believe the Wildcat coaches and players when they said they had a chance to upset Louisiana State. [Read article]

On Friday UA lost to UCSB in four games ÷ 30-26, 28-30, 30-24, 30-19 ÷ and swept New Mexico State (3-6) in three ÷ 30-28, 35-33, 30-19. photo Soccer picks up road win in Flagstaff

Despite having last year's leading scorer roaming the sideline with a nagging ankle injury, Arizona soccer hasn't had much trouble getting its offense going this season ÷ only yesterday, the scoreboard finally reflected it.

The Wildcats (2-3) got themselves back into the win column yesterday following a 2-1 victory over Northern Arizona in Flagstaff.

Arizona outshot the Lumberjacks by an overwhelming 17-4 margin, including an 8-3 edge in shots on goal and a 9-1 advantage in corner kick opportunities. The Wildcats have managed to outshoot their opponents in all five games this season. [Read article]

Golf Roundup: Women fall on final day

The Arizona women's golf team jump-started its season this weekend with a third-place finish in one of the most prestigious tournaments of the year.

The Wildcats finished Saturday's play atop the leaderboard of the 2003 Fall Preview, but a lack of momentum yesterday dropped Arizona to third place, eight shots behind Auburn and Duke.

"We had a tough day (yesterday)," head coach Greg Allen said. "We hung in and fought hard. We just didn't have any momentum going for us." [Read article]
