photo Football: Ealy emerging as wildcats' go-to guy

At this time last year, UA sophomore wide receiver Biren Ealy had one catch for 28 yards. Ealy was a rarely used freshman who was learning the ropes of Division I football.

What a difference a year makes.

"(Last year) he felt like there was tremendous pressure on him," receivers coach Mose Rison said. "But the experience he's had this year as a sophomore has been a great one, and he has improved tremendously as a football player." [Read article]

÷Speaking of goodwill, the Wildcat football team will be looking to display anything but to the California Golden Bears this Saturday at Memorial Stadium back in NoCal. The Wildcats notched their one and only conference victory against Cal last season. [Read article]

Cross country rises in rankings

The UA men's cross country team has garnered its highest ranking of the 2003 season.

The Wildcats moved up to the No. 14 spot of the Oct. 21 version of the Men's Mondo National Rankings. Arizona debuted in the Sept. 30 national rankings at No. 18 following the Roy Griak Invitational, when the squad placed sixth in the overall team standings.

The Wildcats have competed in two big national meets during the 2003 season and have performed exceptionally well en route to the squad's current ranking. Their sixth-place showing at the Griak Invitational in Minneapolis caught the eyes of the coaches voting in the weekly poll. [Read article]
