Flu shot vital, even for asthma sufferers

I wanted to respectfully disagree with an opinion proffered in the Oct. 17 online article about the flu vaccine that is also referenced on the UA home page. In it, Carrie Torrington, nurse coordinator and registered nurse at Campus Health Services is quoted as saying: "The flu shot is not recommended for everyone. People with chronic problems such as asthma should not get the shot." [Read article]

The new Multimedia Zone located in the information commons of the ILC is indeed a curious and entertaining sight. Its eight new computers boast some of the latest and greatest in info-tech and digital graphic software, which, by the look of it, seems to be quite sophisticated and costly.

However, these new computers do not seem necessary to have in the ILC.

First, all of the computers in the Zone are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and carry no time limitations - which means that a select few students could monopolize the precious resources of the pilot project. [Read article]

After surviving a number of roadblocks last year, Residence Life Recycling seems to finally be getting back on its feet. Recycle bins are up and going in the dorms, and it's not even November yet.

Students are still interested in recycling, too. Marcella Silva, a family studies senior, has noticed that some of her friends in the dorms are even asking where they can recycle materials not included in the current recycling program. [Read article]
