A man riding a motorcycle was arrested after he tried to outrun a police officer at 12:45 a.m. Friday, reports stated.

The police officer first noticed the man riding south on North Euclid Avenue at an estimated 75 mph. The man and his female passenger rode through a red light at North Euclid Avenue and East Sixth Street, reports stated.

The officer turned on his emergency lights and chased the motorcycle through another red light and nearly crashed when it hit a curb. The man finally stopped at East 17th Street and North Euclid Avenue.

The man said he thought the officer was a member of the mafia when the officer asked why he fled. The man then said, "I was stupid. I stopped because I believed I was not going to get away."

The man was arrested for reckless driving, failure to stop for law enforcement, criminal speeding and driving with a suspended license, reports stated.


An employee called police after he found the front door of the Imaging Technology Laboratory, 325 S. Euclid Ave., smashed open Friday, reports stated.

The employee tried to unlock the door, but the deadbolt had been smashed in. A magnet in the door jam held the door together. The bottom door window was also smashed in, reports stated.

When the employee entered the building, he saw two rocks in the hallway and signs that another employee's office had been rummaged through, reports stated.

Police were able to find fingerprints around the door window and submitted them into evidence.

Police have no suspects or witnesses, reports stated.


An employee at the Steward Observatory, 933 N. Cherry Ave., called police Friday after her computer's hard drive was stolen, reports stated.

The employee tried to use the computer at 10 a.m., but couldn't get it to work properly. When she took the cover off the computer, she saw that the hard drive was missing, reports stated.

The hard drive is worth $3,000. The employee said the programs and data on the drive would not benefit anybody outside of the department, reports stated.

The employee locked the door to the room at 10:30 p.m. the night before.

Police have no suspects or witnesses, reports stated.


A student called police Friday after his bike was stolen from the Graham-Greenlee Residence Hall, 610 N. Highland Ave., reports stated.

The student locked his red Mongoose mountain bike to a rack in front of the building at 11:45 a.m. When he returned at 3:50 p.m., the bike and cable lock were missing, reports stated.

The student had scratched the initials "MO" on the frame of the bike and the seat post.

Police have no suspects or witnesses, reports stated.


An employee at New Image Auto Specialists, 904 E. Helen St., called police Friday after she noticed that her license plate had been stolen, reports stated.

The woman had been running errands since 6:30 a.m. and realized that the license plate was missing at 7:30 p.m., reports stated.

The woman said her husband saw the license plate on the Dodge Intrepid the evening before when he parked the car at her home. The woman said she parked on East University Boulevard near campus during the day and thinks that the license plate was stolen at that time, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses, reports stated.


A student was cited on a minor in possession charge Saturday after he and 15 other people were found partying in a room at the Skyview Residence Hall, 1050 E. Eighth St., reports stated.

Police went to the room at 1:48 a.m. after another student complained about the noisy party. When the police opened the door, they found 15 people and a few beer cans scattered amongst them, reports stated.

The officer determined that all of the students were under 21. The only person showing signs of intoxication was arrested when the officer smelled alcohol on his breath, reports stated.

The student was forced to pour out the remaining beers and a liquor concoction in the freezer, reports stated.


Two students were arrested on minor in possession charges Saturday in front of the Graham-Greenlee Residence Hall, 610 N. Highland Ave., reports stated.

An officer in the area saw a female student get out of an SUV and help carry another woman into the entrance of the residence hall, reports stated.

The officer smelled alcohol on the breath of both women and noticed that they had red, watery eyes, reports stated.

The students said they were drinking at a party at the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity earlier that night, reports stated.
