UA football player Lamon Means, 19, is scheduled to be arraigned today on charges of assault. Means is accuses Means of punching a man in the face during a party in July.
A resident of the 1000 block of East Hampton Street filed a police report July 27, in regard to an incident that occurred during a party at his home, reports stated.
Upon arriving, an officer saw a crowd of at least 50 people leaving the house and came across the man, who said he'd been hit in the face by Means, reports stated.
Another man said he was also struck and had his watch stolen during the fight, which took place in the hallway of the home. A woman said she was hit in the chest and that at least four males were involved in the fight, reports stated.
Officers determined Means, of Galena Park, Texas, was involved after conducting a follow-up investigation, according to TPD Sgt. Marco Borboa.
"The victim received serious enough injuries in the assault to warrant assault charges," Borboa said.
Means' arraignment and initial appearance was scheduled for yesterday afternoon but was postponed until 1 p.m. today, according to a spokesperson for Pima County Superior Court. He was indicted on Nov. 4.
Means' status for the Wildcats' Saturday matchup with No. 2 Southern California is unknown.
UA sports information director Tom Duddleston said he couldn't comment on the issue, citing student privacy laws.
Means, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound sophomore, has started at strong safety in each of Arizona's 10 games this season. He is currently fourth on the team with 57 tackles this season.
