Four students were caught drinking alcohol and smoking pot in their room at Arizona/Sonora Residence Hall, 910 E. Fifth St., on Aug. 27, reports stated.

Two students were cited with possession of marijuana, one student was cited with a minor in possession charge, and the last student was cited for both charges, reports stated.

A resident assistant called UAPD after he smelled the odor of marijuana coming from a room on the fifth floor. After he arrived, the officer smelled the door jam of one of the rooms and reported that he too smelled burning marijuana.

The officer knocked on the door and a female student opened it just enough for the officer to see a man sitting in the room wearing a yellow shirt, reports stated.

The officer asked the woman if there was anybody else in the room and she said she was alone. He then entered the room and saw the man in the yellow shirt as well as another man and woman sitting on the floor.

Three cans of Bud Light were sitting on one of the desks. The officer confirmed that everybody in the room was under 21 years old, reports stated.

The officer also saw three bags of a green leafy substance sitting on the desk.

He asked the woman who answered the door to step out in the hallway. When asked if she knew the men in the room, she said that she didn't and that they brought the marijuana, reports stated.

The officer spoke to the other female student, who was a roommate, and she admitted to drinking earlier in the day, but said she did not smoke any marijuana, reports stated.

The two male students were questioned separately. The student wearing the yellow shirt said that the marijuana was in the girls' room and was not his.

The other male student said that he was buying marijuana from the student wearing the yellow shirt for $5.

When questioned again, the student in yellow said that he did in fact bring the marijuana but that he was not a drug dealer. The student also gave the name and telephone number of the student whom he bought the marijuana from.

UAPD responded to a report that a student's car had been stolen from the Tyndall Garage, 880 E. Fourth St., on Aug. 27, reports stated.

The car, a two-door coupe, also had a UA sticker on the back bumper. The student said that nobody else had access to the car.

UAPD circled the area around the garage, but the car was not found. Police asked to see video from the garage, but the attendant said they were only used for security purposes and do not record, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses at this time.
