Michael Bell steps it up, gets Athlete of the Week honors
After Clarence Farmer went down this weekend against UTEP with a shoulder injury, Michael Bell knew he had to step it up. He did, and in a big way, with 119 yards on just 13 carries ÷ one for 52 yards. The sophomore running back earned the first Athlete of the Week honors this year after Arizona beat the Miners, 42-7.

Cats avoid major injuries
Very little of the Wildcats' 42-7 win over Texas - El Paso Saturday resembled the 2002 season, and injuries were no exception. Arizona was hit hard by the injury bug last year, but the team started off the 2003 season with no major injuries after the first contest.
Senior running back Clarence Farmer, who was sidelined with knee problems for most of 2002, was helped off the field with a shoulder injury and is listed as questionable for this Saturday against Louisiana State, as are senior cornerback Gary Love and freshman running back Chris Henry.
