SPORTS UPDATE:
Stanford stuns Wildcats with 35-foot buzzer beater

photo UA men's basketball loses at Stanford 80-77 on Nick Robinson's 35-foot running 3-point shot. The Cardinal wins its 20th straight and remains undefeated on the season.

Neither the Wildcats nor the Cardinal had won a home game against the other squad in four seasons, something Stanford head coach Mike Montogmery hoped would come to an end on national television.

UA employee claims whistle-blowing on alcohol storage led to her pink slip

photo A university employee said she was fired after reporting to administrators that alcohol was stored in the Office of International Student Programs and Services.

On Jan. 26, Rawya Hafez, office specialist for ISPS, e-mailed Provost George Davis, saying alcohol had been stored in an adviser's office for more than two months.

How to re-create an expensive look with steals from local stores

The scene on the UA Mall Thursday was a dreary one indeed, as smatterings of students walked here and there, all clad in unremarkable T-shirts, lifeless jeans and dumpy sweatshirts. Some were in sweatpants, some in sneakers and some in flip-flops. Nary a ray of fashion was in sight. A haze of bad fashion hung over the campus, stifling the air.

Through this bleak cloud of ugly, a few lone pillars of fashion stood out like beacons in the night. Shoug Loogi, a nutrition sophomore, and Ibrahim Alansary, a philosophy freshman, were among these few rare gems decorating the Mall with their well-chosen attire. [Read article]
