Students who enjoy concerts, free food or sumo wrestling may want to find a little extra time in between their classes to relax, recreate and participate in the University Activities Board Week.
Today through Thursday, UAB is hosting a free, student-run activity fair on the UA Mall.
Sponsored by UAB, a nonprofit student organization, UAB Week is a time for the association to promote itself and its upcoming board elections.
The event is also an opportunity for students to participate in a variety of activities and enjoy free snacks.
Amina Shonka, UAB vice president, said the event was intended to be both informative and exciting.
"We want students to come by and have fun while learning about what UAB does for the U of A," Shonka said.
UAB is responsible for providing diverse and entertaining events and activities to the UA campus and Tucson area. UAB Week gives students a chance to learn more about the organization and potentially get involved in it. Shonka said attendants of the event are encouraged to pick up an application to run in the upcoming board elections on April 2.
UAB week events are sponsored and funded by the Student Union Memorial Center and UAB, though Shonka said organizers will not be sure of the total money spent on the week until it is over. The week's events are free, fitting perfectly in the college student's budget.
"It's all free for the students because that's what our organization is all about," Shonka said.
