Low voter turnout, lack of female candidates for president mark ASUA elections
Now that the ASUA elections are over and the numbers are in, it's time to engage in a little armchair analysis. You don't need to be a statistician to have a few figures jump out: ASUA voter turnout is surprisingly low and the number of women candidates that ran for ASUA president is extremely small.
Compare, for instance, ASUA voter turnout with the U.S. presidential election in November where an estimated 60 percent of eligible voters showed up. Here at the UA, turnout percentages for the latest elections hovered in the teens.

Editorial: Thumbs up, Thumbs down
Upside surprises for both basketball teams
With UA basketball having gotten a reputation for being "choke artists," as one ESPN.com story opined, it's great to see that both teams have been an upside surprise in the NCAA tournaments.
The men's basketball team, despite one poor half, has routinely dominated both opponents, and the women's team advanced to the second round even considering last night's setback and the idea that it wasn't even supposed to make it to the tournament.

Greeks do provide hands-on service
We at Habitat for Humanity Tucson are very grateful for the current hands-on community-service support that we receive from the greek community at the UA. Usually every Saturday we have members of the greek community volunteering at one of our homebuilding sites. Of course, we can always use more support!
And in fact, one extraordinary opportunity to conveniently provide support will happen next school year.
