Police found two students bleeding from their faces Friday while patrolling the university area, reports stated.

The students were sitting on the curb of East University Boulevard and North Tyndall Avenue with blood on their faces and clothes, reports stated.

One student had a cut on his mouth and a swollen eye and the other student was bleeding from his nose and mouth, reports stated.

Both students were conscious, reports stated.

A witness saw a car pull up beside the two students and the passenger in the car punched one student in the face, reports stated.

The student fell backwards and the driver got out and punched him several times, reports stated.

The student later told police the men in the car "blindsided" and "sucker punched" him, reports stated.

The other student said he said saw his friend on the ground getting "kicked and hit" and went to help him, reports stated.

The unknown men got back into their car and drove north on North Tyndall Avenue, reports stated.

Neither student wished to press charges, reports stated.


A student was arrested Thursday for shoplifting items from the UofA Bookstore, 1209 E. University Blvd., reports stated.

An employee contacted police and said a student was taking several items and putting them in her backpack, reports stated.

Police waited for the student to exit the bookstore and stopped her for questioning, reports stated.

Police instructed the student to open her backpack and inside were many of the missing items, including two sets of headphones, a cosmetic blemish stick, a dictionary and a journal, reports stated.

The student told police she took the items but did not have the intention to steal when she entered the bookstore, reports stated.

She said it was her first time shoplifting, reports stated.

The student was cited and released.


A student found prescription medicine March 29 in the parking lot of First Christian Church, 740 E. Speedway Blvd., reports stated.

The student said he took prescription medicine and knew it could be detrimental to someone's health if it were lost, reports stated.

The student contacted police Thursday to report the found property, reports stated.

Police contacted the pharmacist and she released the owner's phone number, reports stated.

Police contacted the owner of the medication and she said she gave it to two women who wanted to pass it on to needy people in South America, reports stated.

The woman said she had no use for the medicine so she did not mind donating it, reports stated.

The woman became uncomfortable on the phone and asked police to destroy the prescription, reports stated.


Someone dismantled a fire extinguisher Friday in Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall, 910 E. Fifth St., but police found no smoke or fire, reports stated.

Police found the dry chemical from the extinguisher had been sprayed around the fourth floor, reports stated.

The smoke detectors were sounding but police found no signs of fire, reports stated.

Police contacted custodial services to clean up the dry chemical from the floor, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.


An employee reported a suspicious vehicle Friday at a UA construction site, 200 E. Roger Road, reports stated.

Two employees both witnessed a man drive through the site's gate, reports stated.

When the man saw the two employees watching him, he came to an abrupt stop and left the scene, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or other witnesses.


Someone broke into a student's car and stole her stereo sometime between March 29 and Friday in a Zone 1 parking lot, 421 N. Cherry Ave., reports stated.

The student said she opened her car door and realized someone had tampered with her car, reports stated.

The door lock and handle were both out of place and her car stereo was missing, reports stated.

The student touched the car before police arrived so the crime scene was unable to be dusted for fingerprints, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.
