UAPD warns of campus robberies

Series of related robberies occur on or near campus

The University of Arizona Police Department sent out an alert warning about campus-area robberies due to mugging incidents happening near campus or involving UA students.

A series of what appear to be related robberies and armed robberies occurred on and near campus and involved UA students, reports stated.

All of the cases happened in the same time frame and most occurred in the area north of the campus between Euclid Avenue and Campbell Avenue, said Sgt. Eugene Mejia, spokesman for UAPD. [Read article]

Olson now predicts Adams will stay

Just more than a week after head coach Lute Olson predicted that junior guard Hassan Adams would leave school early for the NBA, Olson said he thinks Adams will be back for his senior season.

After talking to NBA scouts in the past week, Olson relayed that not one scout considered Adams ready for the NBA.

"As of this point, I don't think Hassan will go," Olson said. "Where I felt at the end of the year that it would probably be a done deal, I don't think it is." [Read article]

Tombstone was a circus on April Fools' Day. Protesters with signs that read "Borders imprison us all" merged with counter-protesters holding signs proclaiming "Osama bin Laden loves open borders." American Indian dancers performed on the main drag of Interstate 80 that runs through town. Reporters and photojournalists from media outlets like the Los Angeles Times, National Public Radio and local Arizona papers jockeyed for position on the sidewalks. [Read article]

Mother always said, "Don't play with your food!" If she'd known it could be as entertaining as "Cookin'," she probably would have made an exception.

Having toured more than two dozen countries since its creation in Seoul, Korea in 1997, "Cookin'" is a combination plate of slapstick, percussion, martial arts, dance and loads of fun.

The premise: Four chefs are under the gun to complete a feast for Ms. Lee and Mr. Kim's wedding banquet. Led by Master Chef (Gon Ho Kim), Hot Sauce (Eun Ji Kim), Sexy Food Dude (Byung Joon Park) and Nephew (Sung Joong Byun), the chefs manage to create a wedding cake, bulgoki (Korean BBQ), dumplings and a duck dish in about an hour. Land surfing: Longboarders invade the UA

There's nothing new about skateboarding, but the elite few who ride them around Tucson are getting some competition from a new breed of riders.

Longboards, a kind of hybrid cross between a surfboard and a skateboard, have been making a comeback since the 1990s and are slowly, but surely becoming ever more visible on the UA campus.

Though most skateboarders tend to be linked into the high school age group, some veteran skateboarders now attend the UA and even partake of the longboard phenomenon. [Read article]
