photo Street vendors underappreciated, serve purpose

Street vendors are part of the lifeblood of this city. They are an underappreciated but integral piece to many residents' experiences. Most people who have lived in Tucson for a little bit of time have likely had a positive experience with a street vendor. Many may even have personal connections with street vendors without really appreciating it. Think of the tamale ladies who save the day when McDonald's seems like the only option for dinner. Consider the hot dog vendors on Fourth Avenue and downtown, who are open until bar closing time and have saved countless from the porcelain gods. These people, working in a sort of underground economy, work their asses off to survive while at the same time contribute a little piece of happiness and soul to Tucson. [Read article]

Girls who pose for Playboy hypocritical for shunning Wildcat

Beautiful women have always been forced to prove they're more than just looks, but the behavior of some who posed for Playboy this week suggests that they just don't get it.

With the Arizona Daily Wildcat attending the photo shoots to write a story about the UA's pithy turnout (15 on the first day versus ASU's 200), almost all the women refused to be interviewed, named or photographed (before they took off their clothes, of course). [Read article]

Admin makes no A/C story almost credible

You took me in for a minute with your story about the university cutting off the air conditioning. The sad thing is, given the UA's budget situation and the disdain for higher education in the state legislature, the story seemed almost credible. I have an idea! Let's cut off the air conditioning in the state legislative offices and divert the savings into more support for the state universities! With all the hot air they produce up there, the savings should be substantial. [Read article]
