A student and resident of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority house, 1535 E. First St., reported receiving vulgar text messages and e-mails over the summer and suspects her ex-boyfriend is involved, reports stated.

The student said she started receiving the messages in the second week of May and continued to receive them until Friday. She said she hasn't had contact with her ex-boyfriend over summer break, reports stated.

She said the text messages have also been sent to her friends, sometimes using a Web site that makes it appear the messages are from the student, reports stated.

The student told police she thought her ex was involved because the messages refer to details of their relationship only the two of them knew about, reports stated.

Police asked the student if she felt threatened by any of the messages. The student said the sender threatened to kill her in one of the messages, and another threatened to "roofie" her, or slip Rohypnol in her drink to incapacitate her, reports stated.

The student said she didn't feel either of those messages constituted a danger to her, reports stated.

Police spoke with the student's best friend, who said she received vulgar messages about the student on her cell phone and provided police with three pages of messages.

Police contacted the student's ex-boyfriend, who denied any involvement and said he didn't know who was sending the messages, reports stated.

Police were unable to specify who sent the message with the information provided, reports stated.

The student said she didn't want to press charges, and she only wanted to report the information and wants the communication to stop, reports stated.

There are no charges pending at this time and police have no other suspects or witnesses.

An employee's laptop was stolen from her office in the Education building, 1430 E. Second St., sometime over the summer.

The employee said she last saw her laptop secured to her desk in her locked office the last week of May, reports stated.

The employee said she was out of the country all summer, and when she returned from her extended leave Thursday afternoon, the laptop was gone and the cable attaching it to the desk had been cut, reports stated.

She said she didn't have much information about her computer but would contact police with a serial number, model and price.

The employee said no other items had been stolen from the office including an unsecured bicycle, reports stated.

Police did not notice any damage or evidence of forced entry to the office door, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses and placed the cut cable cord from the laptop into evidence, reports stated.

Three students were referred to the diversion program for underage drinking and possession of marijuana and paraphernalia in Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St., at 12:34 a.m. Thursday, reports stated.

Police responded to the residence hall after receiving a report of burnt marijuana on the fourth floor, reports stated.

Several resident assistants reported smelling the marijuana, but no one had spoken with the resident, reports stated.

Police approached the reported room and the door was open. Police could see three men inside and two oscillating fans were on and pointing out the window, reports stated.

The officer told the students why he was there and they allowed him to enter, reports stated.

Police spoke to the students individually and the resident of the room opened a desk drawer and handed an officer a black pouch with a zipper. He told the officer his marijuana and pipe were inside and police found a baggie containing a green, leafy substance and a pink and blue glass pipe with residue, reports stated.

The student told police he brought the substance from California and it was worth about $10, reports stated.

He said he and one of the men were smoking but the third was not, reports stated.

The second student admitted to smoking marijuana. The third student said he had not been smoking, and officers could smell alcohol on his breath, reports stated.

The third student, who is under 21, told police he had been drinking beer at a friend's house earlier that night, reports stated.

Police referred the resident to the Dean of Students Student Diversion program for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The second student was referred for possession of marijuana. The third was referred for being underage with alcohol in his body, reports stated.

A student's Milano motorcycle was damaged after someone tried to steal it while it was parked at the Delta Delta Delta sorority house, 1541 E. Second St., sometime early Wednesday morning, reports stated.

The student said she noticed damage to her motorcycle's ignition at 7:50 a.m. Wednesday and had last seen it intact at 12:30 a.m. the same day, reports stated.

The vehicle could not be started and no other damage was found to the motorcycle, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.
