Many to miss 'Polkey' a girl that couldn't be missed
If Shawntinice Polk was in the same room you were, you knew it. Heck, if you were on the same college campus as Polkey, you probably knew it.
If somehow her 6-foot-5 inch frame didn't make her stand out in a crowd, her loud voice and booming laugh certainly did.
I had the opportunity to cover the women's basketball team during the 2003-2004 season, Polkey's sophomore year. I didn't know her like her numerous friends did, but anyone who spent any length of time around her could tell she was one who always laughed at life, whatever it decided to throw her way.

1998- 2002: Four-year letterwinner in basketball and volleyball at Hanford (Calif.) High School. The Lady Pups won league champions in each of her four years
Fall 2000: Signed with the UA; redshirted the 2001-2002 season
Nov. 22, 2002: Scored a career-high 29 points against Louisiana State
2003
March 1: Registered a career-high nine blocks against California

Inside the UA Athlete: Freshmen living large in small quarters
A dorm room doesn't provide the biggest living quarters for the Arizona student. It's even less accommodating for three freshmen all standing more than 6-foot-6.
But it will have to do for Marcus Williams, J.P. Prince and Fendi Onobun, the future of the Arizona men's basketball team.
In Prince's room, which he shares with a buddy from his hometown of Memphis, Tenn., the guard has the bare necessities for today's college student.

From the booth: Leave it to QB Kovalcheck
Each game this season, redshirt sophomore quarterback Richard Kovalcheck of the Arizona football team has put up the best numbers of his short Wildcat career.
Nothing against superfrosh Willie Tuitama - hailed as the future of the program - but I see one thing when I look at Kovalcheck: the here and now of the program.
Entering this season, Kovalcheck's career high in passing yards came in the team's November upset of ASU, when he threw for 239 yards.
