"Cultural Competency: Tiles of Hope." An experiential learning activity where students will reflect on their culture with poetry and art. Students will develop a lyrical poem that reflects their "culture." Culture is defined by the student and is translated into art on a tile. Each tile is then added to a frame in the shape of the UA "Block A." 10:30 a.m. UA Mall

Cultural Competency: "Working Towards a Culture of Competence," by Carla Gary, University of Oregon. Gary will use research findings, her experience as an educator, and real-life examples to define cultural competency, demonstrate its benefits, and suggest ways to continue developing or teaching these skills.
