Gay PDA at the UA OK?
Public displays of affection. These high-profile embraces are a daily occurrence on campus, whether it's a perky couple smooching on the UA Mall, two hormonal students taking a "study break" in their cars or simply a homeless guy's solo antics in the library.
But what about gay PDA? This is about as rare a sight on campus as President Peter Likins lowering tuition.
An instructor for one of my courses claimed that this lack of intra-gender canoodling is because of society's entrenched homophobia. Even in the modern "Queer Eye" era, he imagined, two men wouldn't be able to walk around campus holding each others' hands without catching some kind of flak.

This one's for the kids
Seven years old and unbeatably cheerful, Tim had about five rocks that he had painted and carried around as pets. They'd made him quite the celebrity at the camp for foster kids where I worked.
One day, I asked him what he'd named the rocks. He proudly replied "Tim, Tim, Tim, Tim and Tim," slowly pointing out each one. It was cute and it was funny. But our federal government is attempting to treat foster kids the same way, and it's neither cute nor funny. In fact, it's unacceptable.

Editorial: Let process take the reins
Any politico will admit that there's nothing like a sex scandal to roil the ranks of government, and the sexual misconduct allegations levied against Associated Students of the University of Arizona President Cade Bernsen have proven no different.
Even so, this is a time for process-driven diligence, not speculative hysteria. Despite the depravity of the alleged incidents, it is important to defer to a fundamental liberty extended to all defendants: that Bernsen is innocent until proven otherwise.

ASUA president's actions louder than words
Regarding the article "Bernsen accused of sexual misdeeds," ASUA President Cade Bernsen's character, so illuminated through his actions toward his female colleagues, has forced me to question how someone of this caliber is in a lead governing position. I find it appalling that he claims to have concern for and represent all students. In addition, since Mr. Bernsen is privileged with appointing his administration, I am forced to question the integrity of the ASUA administration as a whole.
