Gaub's Gospel: It's about more than the 'O'
There's more to it than just the name.
Sure, many big-time recruits like St. Mary's High School star Jerryd Bayless are attracted to the Arizona men's basketball team because of the success and the renown of the white-haired gentleman who acts as head coach.
But the man for whom fans chant "LUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE" at each home game could never have done it on his own.

'Big weekend' for Cats against Oregon schools
Sandwiched in the middle of a tough stretch of road games, this weekend's home games against the Oregon schools may very well be the most important of the season for the Arizona women's basketball team.
"It's a huge weekend, number one to get our confidence," said Arizona head coach Joan Bonvicini, whose team has lost eight of their last nine games.
When the Wildcats (5-10, 1-4 Pacific 10 Conference) tip off tonight at 7 in McKale Center against Oregon State, they will be facing a team whose struggles of late may seem familiar to the Wildcat players.

Prep star to return luster to Point Guard U

If he lives up to the hype, Jerryd Bayless will be the next name on the list.
"All of them told me U of A might be the best possibility," Bayless said. "All the best players from Arizona go there."

NCAA delays season start
Life may not always be fair, and neither is the weather.
In an effort to increase parity among Division I baseball programs, the NCAA voted Monday that preseason practices will not begin until Feb. 1. This legislation could go into affect as early as next season. The regular season would then start the last weekend of February with the hope of leveling the playing field between warm- and cold-climate schools.
