A student was cited and released for shoplifting from the UofA Bookstore, 1209 E. University Blvd., Thursday afternoon, reports stated.
Security for the bookstore told police she observed and videotaped the student take a packet out of a book, put the packet in her bag, pay for other items and leave the store, reports stated.
Security pointed out the student to police who then approached the student and took her into an office in the bookstore for questioning, reports stated.
The student confessed to police that she had taken the packet. She said she took it because the used books did not come with the online packet, and she did not want to pay more for a new book, reports stated.
She told police that she did not come with the intention of stealing the packet. She said she had the money to buy the book but was running low on money, reports stated.
Police searched her bag and no other stolen property was found, reports stated.
Police told the student that she is not allowed back in the bookstore, and if she returns she will be arrested for trespassing, reports stated.
A UA employee had approximately $400 worth of property stolen from her office in the Arizona Cancer Center, 1515 N. Campbell Ave., sometime Thursday afternoon, reports stated.
The employee told police she stepped out of her office at noon, and when she returned at 4 p.m. her belongings were gone, reports stated.
She told police she had not locked her office door, and as far as she knows the door was left open, reports stated.
The items that were stolen were in plain view from the hallway, reports stated.
The employee told police she normally leaves her door open when she has to do things outside of her office and nothing has ever been stolen before, reports stated.
The employee asked her co-workers if they noticed anything unusual and no one could give any helpful information, reports stated.
Police have no suspects or witnesses at this time.
A student's Jeep was damaged sometime Friday while parked in a Zone 1 lot, 1231 N. Cherry Ave., reports stated.
An anonymous caller told police there was a Jeep parked and running, reports stated.
When police arrived they saw the Jeep and looked inside. The police saw there was damage to the steering column, reports stated.
Nothing was missing from the Jeep, reports stated.
It is unknown how entry was made because the soft top was open, reports stated.
There are no suspects or witnesses at this time.
A student's credit cards and approximately $47 were stolen from the men's locker room of the Student Recreation Center, 1400 E. Sixth St., Friday morning, reports stated.
The student told police that the items were in his wallet when he put his wallet into a locker at 9 a.m. He told police he locked the locker with a combination lock, reports stated.
When he returned to his locker at 11 a.m., his property was missing, reports stated.
The student told police the lock was not damaged or broken. He said he did not notice anything suspicious, reports stated.
There are no suspects or witnesses at this time.
A student's Jeep was vandalized sometime between Jan. 12 and Friday while parked at the Kappa Alpha Fraternity House, 906 N. First Ave., and approximately $200 worth of damage was caused, reports stated.
The student showed police the broken driverside mirror, and the front passenger door that had been egged, reports stated.
The student told police he thought it might be fraternity related but was unsure, reports stated.
Police checked for any evidence and no investigative leads were found, reports stated.
Police have no suspects or witnesses.
A student's car was broken into and approximately $400 worth of property was stolen and $250 worth of damage was caused to it while parked in a Zone 1 lot, 421 N. Cherry Ave., Thursday morning, reports stated.
The student told police he parked and locked his car at 9 a.m. and went to his morning class.
When he returned at 10:40 a.m. he saw the driverside passenger window was broken out, reports stated.
The student showed police where his stolen property had been, reports stated.
Police checked the area around and inside his car and did not locate any investigative leads, reports stated.
Police have no suspects or witnesses.
