The undefeated Arizona women's swim team will begin competition today at the Pacific 10 Conference championships at Belmont Plaza Pool in Long Beach, Calif.

The competition will continue through Saturday.

The Wildcats are led by Ashley Tappin in the 200 meter freestyle and Becky Gumpert in the breaststroke and individual medley events.

The team is looking to extend on its 7-0 dual meet record.

Arizona's undefeated season included impressive wins over some of the nation's top-ranked teams, including Arizona State, UCLA, Southern Cal and Texas.

The Wildcats finished fifth at the Pac-10 championships last year. It was their highest finish ever in the conference championship.

For some of the Wildcat swimmers, the meet will serve as a tune up for the U.S. Olympic Trials March 20-23.

The meet will be televised by Prime Sports network Monday at noon.

Arizona will host the men's and women's diving championships next week at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center.
