Arizona golf finishes tied for 3rd

The UA men's golf team finished tied for third place yesterday at the 6th annual Taylor Made Big Island Intercollegiated Golf Tournament at the Kings's Golf Club (7,074 yards, par 72) in Waikoloa, Hawaii.

Oklahoma State won the team title by seven shots (911) over Southern Methodist (918). Arizona finished tied for third with Arizona State and Arkansas at 921. Texas Christian finished sixth (923), Texas El-Paso seventh (925), and UNLV and Southern Cal tied for eighth (927).

Jim Skinner of Southern Methodist held on to his lead, winning the individuals by shooting a 1-over 73 for a total of 222. The low scorer for Arizona was Ted Purdy, who shot a 3-under 69 yesterday to tie for ninth place with four other golfers.
