The Arizona baseball team's 6-1 victory over UC-Santa Barbara yesterday at Sancet Field will € if nothing else € give the team some momentum heading into Pacific 10 Conference Southern Division play.

The Wildcats open Six-Pac play on Friday with Southern Cal at Dedeaux Field in Los Angeles.

The game was a display in solid pitching by the Wildcats. UA veterans Jason Ford (2-0) and Clay Crossan combined to lead the Arizona to the victory. Ford started the game for Arizona (15-8) and allowed four hits and one earned run with two walks and six strikeouts in six innings of work. Crossan pitched three innings and allowed two hits with one walk and three strikeouts.

"Jason Ford and Clay Crossan were really good today. Their control was good and their stuff was good," Arizona head coach Jerry Kindall said. "Both of those guys gave our pitching a real lift."
