Gault garners Coach of the Year honors

Arizona head gymnastics coach Jim Gault was named Pacific 10 Conference Coach of the Year along with John Spini of Arizona State and Jim Turpin of Oregon State. This marks the fifth time that Gault has received the award, with the others coming in 1989, 1990, 1993 and 1994.

Gault has led the eighth-ranked Wildcats to a 24-4 record and a third- place finish in the Pac-10. In his 16th season as head coach, Gault has a regular season record of 268-102.

Prior to coming to Arizona in 1980, Gault owned and operated a gymnastics club in San Ramon, Calif. He also taught at the elementary and high school level for 11 years in Northern California. Gault was a founder of the U.S. Elite Coaches' Association for Women's Gymnastics and served as the chairman for eight years.

Gault was nominated for Coach of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women in 1986 and 1987. He has also been honored as Pac-West Co-Coach of the year in 1986.
