Police to conduct DNA tests on body of woman found in freezer

PHOENIX (AP) - Identification of a body found in a freezer will be based on DNA tests because the victim's fingers have deteriorated so much that prints can't be taken, police said Wednesday.

Authorities believe the woman is the former roommate of the freezer's owner, but have been unable to verify her identity through dental records because the woman's dentist is dead, said Sgt. Mike Torres, a police spokesman.

The owner of the freezer - Gale Susan Zylstra - has been charged with first-degree murder.

Zylstra, 44, and the woman thought to be the victim lived together in 1991, according to police.

Symington contribution list shows many supporters omitted employer names

PHOENIX - An analysis of Gov. Fife Symington's campaign finance reports found thousands of contributors failed to list the names of their employers, which is required by law, a citizens' group said yesterday.

But Symington said he has complied with the law, which requires that a campaign committee ''exercise its best efforts to obtain the required information.''

Jim Driscoll, director of Arizona Citizen Action, said the analysis of contributions to Symington's 1994 campaign found that he raised over $3.2 million, including 9,678 contributions of $50 or more.

According to Driscoll, 43 percent of the contributions failed to include the name of the contributor's employer, which is required by state law. In some cases, the employer wasn't listed even though the contributor was well known to Symington and the public.
