The Arizona gymnastics team fell short in its attempt to win its first national championship last night at the NCAA Championship in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

The No. 8 Wildcats finished fourth in their division, just missing a place in the final round Saturday. The top three teams in each division moved on to the finals.

Alabama finished first in UA's bracket, with a 196. 325. Utah, which defeated Arizona in the NCAA regional qualifier two weeks ago, placed second with a 196.000. Pacific 10 Conference rival Oregon State grabbed the final spot in the final with a 195.7, and UA scored a 195.125.
