Two UA graduates who founded the Eegee's deli chain are seeking Tucsonans' thoughts and wishes for the world in the year 2021 to fill a time capsule commemorating the company's 25th anniversary.

Ed Irving and Bob Greenberg founded Eegee's in 1971 and will bury the capsule this fall at the dedication ceremony of their new commissary center at 3360 E. Ajo Way.

"We would like the community's visions and hopes for Tucson and the world over the next 25 years," Irving said.

Eegee's is currently videotaping customers' thoughts for the future at their 16 locations. Forty-five couples volunteered to renew their vows on video after 25 years of marriage.

"The common thread that seems to be running through the letters and comments is a concern for the environment," Irving said. "One person wrote they hoped to still be able to see the Catalina Mountains in 25 years."

Letters, pictures and poems can be sent to Time Capsule, c/o Eegee's, 5677 E. Speedway Blvd., Tucson, 85712.
