The cup is the only all-sports trophy awarded to colleges and universities.

Arizona, bolstered by NCAA championships in women's golf and softball, finished seventh. Pacific 10 Conference rival UCLA was second followed by Florida, Texas, Michigan and North Carolina. Penn State, Nebraska and Southern Cal rounded out the top 10. Ari zona State finished 17th.

"We were only 30 points from third place, and if you look at the schools around us you can see the great competition that we have," said UA athletic director Jim Livengood. "I think it is outstanding. It is a tribute to our staff and athletes. It is remarkable, and it is only going to get better in the years to come. I am extremely proud."

UC-Davis was the Division II winner. Williams College took the trophy for Division III, and Pacific Lutheran was the NAIA winner. Standings for each school are based on 64-team brackets.

Division I standings are calculated using the institutions' top 22 team finishes. Of the 22 team sports counted, 18 are core sports, which include 9 women's and 9 men's, and four wild card sports (2 women's, 2 men's).
