Arizona lost to UCLA in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Team Championships, moving UCLA to the No. 4 spot. Last season, the UA women's team finished fourth.

Sophomore Vicky Maes, who spent most of the season ranked No. 1, ended the season ranked No. 3. Maes was also selected to the GTE Academic All-America Team two weeks ago.

Three other Wildcats were ranked as well. Junior Stephanie Sammaritano dropped to No. 32 and sophomore Betsy Miringoff rose to No. 55. Freshman Karen Goldstein made a substantial shift, jumping from No. 78 to No. 46 in the final rankings.

The Arizona men's tennis team finished the season ranked 23rd in the nation, following one of the most successful seasons in school history. Arizona made it to postseason play for just the second time ever. Last season, the men's team was ranked 20th.
