Sens. Sliger and Garcia's questions on BGALA funding brave, necessary

Kudos to Senators Sliger and Garcia!

I've been a student on this campus for two years and it wasn't until I read the Thursday Daily Wildcat front page that I learned the Bisexual, Gay and Lesbian Association is a service provided by ASUA, not a club. A service that receives over $5,000 a year! Clearly this is more money than any club on campus receives. I have participated in fledgling clubs requesting funds for professional/academic development and remember the clubs being denied. The activities of BGALA, mentioned in this article, are club activities not service activities. The BGALA should be made to compete for funds as a club, not given $5,261.50 every year for a "service." Every club, even every student, should question this appropriation by facing each senator directly. Once again, thank you, Senators Sliger and Garcia for you fearless efforts in seeking fair allocation of student funds.
