Basketball team provides highlight to an otherwise dim UA education

Editor:

I am writing to express my utter disgust at the current state of this institute of pathetically low learning.

I could not believe that the ex-president of Brazil, Mr. Collor, had his visit canceled because of protests. We are talking about a man who as president once held ultimate power over the lives of 160 million people and who was granting us the privilege of hearing him speak. Something that very few former or current presidents have ever done here. It should have been a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but instead, once again, the university put image over education and this tremendous educational experience was ruined by the actions of the narrow-minded few. One of whom claimed, "I consider this invitation absurd because Mr. Collor does not have any academic authority" (R. Capocchi) - and this guy got into our grad school?? Does this mean that Bill Clinton wouldn't be allowed to speak here either then?

I am similarly outraged - lets face it, which student isn't - by the IIF. What can be the purpose of such a stupid hole in the ground? Is it that freshman here are so dumb that they need all their classes in one building so that they don't get lost? I hope not. With enrollment decreasing there is surely no need for extra classrooms, what we need is professors!! The business college is cutting down on the number of classes offered because they don't have enough professors - and they say education is a priority here? We need more spent on recruiting more quality teachers, not on redundant cave building. However, I should like to thank those back-stabbing bastards in ASUA who have shown us all that the idiocy in this college does not reside with Manuel Pacheco alone, by suddenly supporting the IIF once they reached office. Congratulations, and I hope that your education gets as screwed over as mine currently is.

Thanks though, to Lute and the boys for making this year somewhat tolerable.
