Benevolent nations need to join forces to promote freedom, combat terrorism

Editor:

I am an international student from Peru. Yesterday, after 126 days under captivity at the Japanese Embassy in Lima, 72 people were released. The Peruvian Special Armed Forces had to put an end to this act, perpetrated by the terrorist group called "Tupac Amaru." A lot of memories came to my mind, such as the scenes that I saw from the Oklahoma City bombing and the ones from Atlanta. It was easy for me to understand the feelings of people in those cities, because that was the everyday situation in Peru.

Terrorism, like a cancer, grows everywhere nowadays. These evil acts can happen today in Lima, tomorrow in New York and the day after tomorrow in Jerusalem. It is time that the United States - the country that stopped the Nazi and Communist madness - and all the other countries around the world work together to stop this new kind of madness.

There is nothing like peace and freedom; there is nothing like love and respect. The only result that evil acts produce is destruction. And as the Holy Bible says in Romans 12:9-10, "Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves."
