Marching band's performance will take it nowhere but 'Toilet Bowl'

Editor:

I attended the UA football game and as a UA alumni and former member of the marching band, I was appalled at what passed as a half time show. My low opinion of the current program was reinforced by a recent drive to Phoenix on I-10 where it is obvious that the "Adopt-a-Highway" section sponsored by the band fraternity and sorority, Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma, is by far the filthiest on the entire road. If the leadership of the band does not have the pride to maintain the most public obligation they have taken on, what example is that of the current state of affairs or for the chances of continuing a great tradition?

The half time show at the Illinois game was an absolute abomination and an insult to every UA marching band alumnus. Wander on the field in disarray and not ever bother to form a letter "A" as in ARIZONA! In the glory days of marching bands in this town when Jack Lee was the director at the UA, there were several high school bands that would have put on a much better show. The only entertaining part at the Illinois game was when the tuba section did their "invisible hula hoop dance" sans instruments!

The UA band was invited to the very first NFL Super Bowl in 1966 because they were of that caliber. Well, the only bowl the current band need bother attend is the Toilet Bowl!
