'Wildcat' needs to 'take a break' from its coverage of ASUA

Editor:

I am writing to give some advice on the way the Daily Wildcat has been handling any, and all, coverage dealing with ASUA's appointments of directors. TAKE A BREAK!!

First, it is interesting to me that when the Senate made a mistake by not giving 24 hours notice before calling an executive session, it made your front page, opinions page, and repeatedly gets brought up in any article.

Funny, when the Wildcat makes a mistake, which you do often, it gets printed in a small little corrections box ONCE, at the bottom of the page. Hmmm...

Second, I was at the controversial meeting where Ann Fowler was appointed, and when the Wildcat reporter rudely interrupted the meeting, Sen. Davidson's response was not "We're just going to continue." but rather, "We are in the middle of a meeting, and it will continue. We will deal with any comments at the end." Funny how words get turned around, isn't it?

Third, this new revelation about Erin Russell's brother is a waste of print. Interesting that you did not print the fact that Will Kuhn, who e-mailed his concerns, and David Leach, who applied for a position as well, are friends! Brian Russell was appointed because he was a qualified applicant. If his last name were Jebediah, no one would have had a problem with his appointment because he is doing a great job. However when people are doing good jobs, that rarely gets printed on the front page.

Finally, as Minority Action Council Director, I find it appalling that issues on campus such as the hate crimes that have been taking place at Maricopa Hall get breezed over, for your daily ASUA bashing fest. It's this kind of bashing that sends me straight to the crossword puzzle, and stops me from reading past your headlines.

So please Daily Wildcat, take a break.

Just as you are not the New York Times, ASUA Senate is not the U.S. Senate. Everyone makes mistakes. We don't harp on yours; perhaps it is time you stop harping on others'.
