The UA cross country teams will travel to the opposite corner of the country to compete in one of the largest meets of the year tomorrow.

Their destination is Orono, Maine, home of the Murray Keating Invitational. The Wildcats will compete against a strong field of 26 teams from 15 colleges and universities.

Sophomore Amy Skieresz will be looking to continue her dominance. In both of the meets so far this season, she has coasted to victories. Dating back to last year, she has placed first in six of her last seven races. The only exception is her second-place performance at the NCAA championships last year.

The other Wildcats who will be making the trip to Maine are senior Viola Schaffer, sophomore Emily Nay, freshman Kristen Parrish and juniors Virginia Camacho, Tone Bratteng and Kelly Chavez.

The 11th-ranked women may receive their biggest challenges from third-ranked Stanford and 15th-ranked Boston College.

"We are going into the meet very healthy on the girls' side," UA head coach Dave Murray said. "I am looking forward to seeing them perform well."

The men's team will again be led by junior Bob Keino. So far this season he has placed second in both of the meets he has competed in. The men's squad will be filled out by senior Jon Pillow, sophomore Jeff McLarty, freshmen Micheil Jones and Jeremy Lyon, and junior Chad Wenger.

The men are a bit battered and will be taking six runners instead of the usual seven. Junior Jon Lansa is out with a hurt knee and sophomore Michael Schneider has mononucleosis. The biggest blow, however, is the loss of senior Margarito Casillas, who will redshirt the season because his knee has not healed as fast as had been hoped. He was consistently Arizona's No. 2 runner last year.
