Editor:
Recently, my image of the Greek system has improved. Of late, I have observed many articles in this publication degrading the integrity of the Greek system as a whole. As a new member of Alpha Gamma Rho and the Greek system, I would like to offer a counter-argument to critics of the Greek system. Greeks are not only socially motivated, they also tend to be professional men and women dedicated to the betterment of our community. The Greeks of our campus participate heavily in philanthropy projects and community service.
Over the past month, my brothers have performed community service at the Community Food Bank, the Ronald McDonald House and Walktoberfest (sponsored by the American Diabetes Foundation). On Oct. 5, we sponsored "Mustang Bingo" on the Mall. Half of the proceeds were donated to the UA Center for Disabled Students.
Upcoming events include an activity with Casa de Los Niaos children on Halloween and the Meet Tucson Festival on Oct. 11, 12 and 13. The Meet Tucson Festival promises to be a great event. It will consist of several different nationalities and the foods, music and arts of their countries.
Alpha Gamma Rho would like to take this opportunity to thank not only our brothers, but the brothers and sisters of the Greek system who take the initiative to improve our communities and campus organizations. Our positive actions will definitely help to improve the public impression of the Greek system. Thank you all! Keep up the good work!
