Students that are dazed and confused about their futures may find some clarity at today's Meet Your Major Fair.

The fair will be held in the Memorial Student Union's Arizona Ballroom from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Academic advisers representing over 100 University of Arizona programs will be passing out information and advising students on what is available at the UA, said Sharon Aiken-Wisniewski, an Advising Center for Exploratory Students freshman academic specialist.

This event is intended for all undeclared students, freshmen and any students who are in majors and are unsure of their futures, Aiken-Wisniewski said. She said the fair is also for students seeking information about minor programs offered.

Representatives from UA's Career Services Center and ASUA's Freshmen Council will also be at the fair to provide information about their services.

The ASUA Freshmen Council is in its first year, said Bennie Spencer, an ASUA Freshmen Council member.

"We will be trying to make the freshmen aware that they have a voice here in student government," Spencer said.

This is the third major fair held at the UA, and each year the number of students attending has increased, Aiken-Wisniewski said. She said approximately 500 students went to the first fair in February 1995, and about 900 students attended the second fair in October 1995.

She said this year's goal is to provide information to over 900 students.

"The fair makes it easier for students to make a decision about their major," Aiken-Wisniewski said. "It gives them a central location where they can come in and look at what is available at the UA, pick up information and meet advisers."

ACES is spending about $2,000 on the fair, which includes the use of the space in the Memorial Union and for publicity for the event, Aiken-Wisniewski said.
