2 Wildcats make Pac-10 1st team

Two Arizona football players were named to the Pacific 10 Conference first team yesterday.

Junior defensive back Chris McAlister was named first-team defensive back, while senior linebacker Armon Williams was named as a first-team special teams player.

McAlister, a junior college transfer who had less than two weeks of practice before the season began, had a conference-leading six interceptions.

UA linebacker Chester Burnett headed a group of four Arizona players named to the second team. Burnett became a second-team linebacker and was second in the conference in tackles this season with 124.

Frank Middleton was named as a Pac 10's second-team offensive lineman and senior Joe Salave'a received second-team honors at defensive lineman. Kicker Matt Peyton was named as a second-team punter.
