- The Center for Computing and Information Technology offers a free workshop on how to use Pine E-mail in the CCIT building, Room 311 from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
The workshop will show participants how to access and use Pine E-mail from computer systems inside and outside the UA. Topics include sending, replying to and creating folders to organize e-mail messages. An account on the UA e-mail system is required prior to the class.
- Career Services is offering a free workshop on how to write a resume from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. Students are required to check in at the Career Services reception desk in the lower level of Old Main.
The workshop discusses resume formats and how to make work experiences stand out. Writing a cover sheet and including references will also be covered.
- The Rotunda Gallery, in the Memorial Student Union, presents the art exhibit "Amanuense" from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.
"Amanuense" is a an exhibit and silent auction of two-dimensional art donated by artists from the United States and Latin America. The show is being held to benefit "Amanuense," the graduate student journal of the UA's Spanish and Portuguese department. The art on display will be sold throughout the week to the highest bidders.
- The Undergraduate Biology Research Program is hosting an informational meeting for summer positions in biological research in the Franklin building, Room 201 at 5 p.m.
The meeting is open to all majors who are interested in obtaining a paying research job for the summer.
- The Memorial Student Union's Gallagher Theatre is showing "Escape from L.A." at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Admission is $2.50.
Fact of the Day Before NASA's launch of the Mars Pathfinder yesterday morning, the United States' previous attempt to observe Mars came September 25, 1992, when it sent up the Mars Observer. The Observer was scheduled to arrive at Mars in August of 1993 and orbit the planet to study the planet's atmosphere and surface. The mission failed after communication with the Observer was lost on August 21, 1993.
