A female student told university police she saw a man masturbating Nov. 20 in the Main Library, 1510 E. University Blvd.

The student told police that at 12:15 p.m., she noticed a man in an adjacent aisle following her through the fourth floor book stacks.

The student told police she stopped and knelt to look for a book. As she did, she heard a noise behind her.

The student turned around and saw the man masturbating. The man immediately began to put his penis away, the student said.

The student told police she ran out of the library and the man followed her.

The student told police she would recognize the man and would help them draw a composite sketch.

Two men were arrested Thursday after they took unauthorized showers in Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St.

University police responded at 9:13 p.m. to reports of two non-students showering on the fifth floor of the hall.

Police met one of the men, Mark A. Schneider, 22, of a general delivery address, in the lobby of the hall.

Schneider told police he had come to the hall because he "knew there would be plenty of hot water."

Schneider said he had been on living on the road. He told police he had gotten into the hall "by the spirit."

The second man, Arjan P. DeLange, 36, also of a general delivery address, was found showering in a fourth floor women's restroom.

DeLange told police he was with seven other people traveling in a bus. He said they had been in Tucson two days and planned to stay two more.

The bus was found parked outside of the hall. A computer check of its plate indicated it belonged to a church group from Sedona. Police called Sedona, but there was no record of either man and, in fact, the bus was registered to a bar.

Both men were taken to Pima County Jail and booked on a charge of criminal trespassing.

A Tucson man hit a woman with his Jeep Thursday at the intersection of East Enke Drive and North Campbell Avenue, university police reports stated.

The man, John A. Doulette, 19, of the 5000 block of East Williams Boulevard, was headed east on Enke Drive at 2:18 p.m. According to police reports, he stopped at Campbell Avenue and looked north, waiting for a break in southbound traffic. He was beginning to turn right onto Campbell when he hit the 28-year-old woman with his front bumper, police reports stated.

Doulette was going less than 5 mph when the accident occurred, police reports stated.

The woman told police she was walking north on the sidewalk west of Campbell. She said she thought Doulette had seen her and began to walk through the intersection.

The woman sustained minor injuries on her left leg and was taken to University Medical Center by Tucson Fire Department paramedics.

Doulette was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and released at the scene.

A male student was charged with theft Thursday after an allegedly stolen parking permit was found in his Jeep.

Parking and Transportation Services employees told university police they had found the 1988 Jeep Cherokee parked in Lot 4056 at East First Street and North Cherry Avenue with a stolen permit. They immobilized the Jeep with a boot.

Jeremy M. Medina, 18, of the 4000 block of East First Street, came to the University Services Building, 888 N. Euclid Ave., at 4:55 p.m. to get the boot removed. Police explained to Medina that the permit he was using was stolen.

Medina told police he had purchased the permit in mid-September when he said he ran into an old high school acquaintance at the McKale Center. There was another man with his friend who told Medina he was leaving the university to attend Arizona State and asked if Medina wanted to buy the parking permit.

Medina told police he bought the permit for $20 but had no idea it was stolen. He said he probably wouldn't recognize the man.

Medina said he had been using the permit since he bought it.

Medina was cited on a charge of theft of services and released at the scene.
