Registrar's Office makes move to Computer CenterThe Office of the Registrar is making its biannual migration to the Computer Center in order to more easily handle the increased student volume that comes with each semester. The Registrar's Office will be moved to the Computer Center, 1077 N. Highland Ave., and will remain there from Jan. 15 to Jan. 24, according to a memo from Gary Hainstock, assistant registrar. "The shifting of our staff to a larger, more equipped area will give us the ability to serve our customers much more efficiently," the memo stated. Judy Mobasseri, interim registrar, said "At the service center we see thousands of students a day. The most we ever see in the administration building is several hundred." She added that at peak volume last year there were over 5,000 students in the Computer Center at one time. "We feel that this is an opportunity to offer better service to students. Basically we are able to provide more staff and more terminals in the same location," she said. The maximum wait for service at the Computer Center is usually less than 30 minutes, she said. Mobasseri also said there are no plans to move the Registrar's Office to a bigger facility permanently. "Normally the administration building is adequate with some lines stretching outside on really busy days," she said. |
