- The Main Library offers a free workshop entitled Creating Web Pages: Beyond the Basics in the library Room A315 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.
Learn about using colors and tables on your homepage and get an overview of forms, image maps, cgi scripts and the effect of Netscape extensions on users.
- Career Services offers a free workshop on how to plan your job search from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Students are required to check in at the Career Services reception desk located in the lower level of Old Main.
The workshop discusses which strategies are most effective and where resources are available.
- The Center for Transfer Students is hosting a presentation on the Financial Aid process in Bear Down Gym Room 201 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. A financial aid officer will be on hand to answer questions and explain the ins and outs of the financial aid pr
ocess.
- The UA women's basketball team plays Washington at 7 p.m. in McKale Center.
- Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering presents Bruce Babin, PhD Graduate of the UA, to speak on "The effect of Concentrated Solar Radiation on Solid Bodies in Space," in the Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering Building Room S202 at 4 p.m. Refreshments
are served in room N722 of the AME building at 3:20 p.m.
- The Math Department presents Peter Sarnak, of Princeton University, to speak on "Zeroes of Zeta Functions, their Spacings and Spectral Nature," from 2:30 p.m.. to 3:30 p.m. in the Math Building Room 501.
- The Memorial Student Union's Gallagher Theatre is showing "The First Wives Club" at 7:30 p.m. and 9:35 p.m. "Groundhog Day" is showing at midnight. Admission is $2.50.
Fact of the Day
Fifty-two years ago today, 7,700 persons died in the world's largest marine disaster when the Nazi passenger ship Wilhelm Gustoff carrying Germans fleeing Poland was torpedoed in the Baltic by a Soviet submarine.
